Diet Plans Comparable to Medifast

[ad_1]

I sometimes get questions from folks who want a list of diets, weight loss systems, or health food plans that are like or comparable to medifast. There are many reasons that people want to know this. Maybe they are researching their options and want to make sure that they are making the absolute best choice. Perhaps they've been able to identify what they've liked or didn't like on previous diets and are looking to make sure that the diet that they pick is going to match their personality a little better. Or, maybe they're wanting the cheapest or most cost effective diet and want to make sure that this is what they are getting. No matter why they are asking the question, I always try to give a complete answer, which I'll go over in the following article.

Low Carb Diets Like Atkins Or South Beach: People are sometimes surprised when I list these two diets as comparable to medifast but they really are. Here's why. Sure, this is a low calorie diet and I'm sure that this does help greatly with the results, but I honestly believe that it works so well because of ketosis (which is the metabolic phase which requires high amounts of protein and low amounts of carbohydrates to wake up your body's fat burning abilities.) I attribute almost all of my success with this diet on the fact that it's a rare occasion that I am bumped out of ketosis and I can see this very clearly by using ketone strips.

So yes, this is technically a low carb diet, but it isn't typical. I had previous success on Atkins but like many people, I worried about fat and cholesterol. Plus, I enjoy protein and meats as much as the next person, but I also like snacks and sweets regularly so I don't feel as though I'm in a rut or am being deprived. And, trying to make regular foods out of proteins gets old. Who wants squash spaghetti or cream cheese based desserts any time you want to splurge?

I find medifast to be preferable to south beach and Atkins simply because I do get to have my snacks and carbs. I get to eat oatmeal and have shakes and chocolate, peanut, or caramel bars. I can also create cookies, muffins and other baked goods from the plan's foods. I like the convenience of having most of my meals prepared for me and while I do prepare one meal each day on my own, I'm eating more regular foods that don't require anything overly special and am not having to try to pass protein alternatives off for carbohydrate snacks and foods. Making each meal without any carbs gets rather old pretty quickly.

Other Prepackaged Diets Like Jenny Craig And Nutrisystem: On the other side of the coin are the meal replacement plans which are in theory similar to medifast. There are a lot of similarities between these weight loss plans. All three mostly provides you with your meals. All three have a low amount of calories and carbohydrates while maintaining a high amount of protein and fiber. And all three have you eating very regularly (from five to six times per day.)

There are some differences in the details, however. Jenny Craig is relatively more expensive (it has sign up fees) and it requires you to go to a clinic for accountability and counseling. You also must buy your meals at the clinic. Some people like this support and others find this to be a bit stifling and too much commitment for those with a busy life.

Nutrisystem, while being very similar, requires more preparation. You are asked to add in sides that you prepare yourself with each and every meal. With medifast, you only have to prepare the one meal so you're not working as hard, at least in my opinion. And you also have less vulnerable places where you can make mistakes of what you are adding in.

Medifast Costs Less Than Most Comparable Diets: Many people who want lists or articles about diets like this one ask because they are trying to save money. But they are often surprised to know that medifast is the least expensive of all these diets. With Atkins and South Beach, you're having to buy a bunch of groceries and need to prepare each and every meal. Jenny Craig charges a sign up fee and their meals run at least $ 11 per day. Nutrisystem is often around $ 8 - $ 10 per day and requires more groceries because you have to add in foods at every meal.

At $ 8 per day if you are using coupons, Medifast is the cheapest at first glance and also more cost effective when looked at closely because you are only having to shop for the groceries for one meal each day. Whether this turns out to be the right diet for you depends greatly on how much food preparation you want to do and how much accountability and support that you think you want or need.

Secrets of Successful Parenting: Time to Say Goodbye to Your Child

[ad_1]

As a teenager Mayer Amschel Rothschild worked in a bank in Hanover Germany. His father Moses was successful gold dealer and money changer in Frankfurt who traded with the Prince of Hesse. Not considering his wealth, Moses sent his son, Mayer to Hanover to work as a clerk at a bank owned and controlled by the Oppenheimers.

Few years later, Mayer Rothschild became highly successful as a banker. To reward him for his intelligence and diligence, Jakob Wolf Oppenheim, the owner of the bank, made him a junior partner of the banking firm. While working in the bank he became acquainted with General Von Estorff for whom he ran errands.

Following his father's death, Mayer, who was 17years, returned to Franfurt to take over his father's business. His business was purchasing and selling rare coins. The experience he acquired from his former job made his business grew rapidly that he had to buy out many coin businesses.

Mayer's uncommon ability made his friend General Von Estorff to introduce him to Prince William IX of Hesse - Hanau, one of the richest royal houses in Europe. Price William was pleased with the discount price Mayer Rothschild charged for his rare coins and trinkets. Mayer even offered him a bonus for any other business the prince can direct his way.

Prince William was the grandson of George II; he was also a cousin to George III, who was a nephew to the king of Denmark and as well a brother in-law to the king of Sweden. These connections also expanded the business of Mayer.

In a very short time, Mayer Amschel Rothschild became the intermediary for the largest Frankfort bankers with names like Bethmann Brothers, Ruepppell and Harnier. With his experience acquired from the Oppenheimers, Meyer learned that lending money to governments and kings was much more profitable than lending to private firms or individuals.

He began to loan money to government and royalty. Rothschild also diversified his business to include antiques, wineries and became an importer of manufactured goods from England.

In 1770, Mayer Amschel Married Gutle Schnaper. From 1773 to 1792 they gave birth to five sons, named Amschel, Solomon, Nathan, Calman and Jacob. Mayer introduced them to the family business at the age 12.

At the age of 21, Nathan left Frankfurt for England to set up his personal business. Mayer gave his third son 20,000 pounds to build his own business empire. Nathan invested in textile and dyestuffs. In 1810, two years after Nathan left Frankfurt; Solomon was sent to Austria to start his own business. The following year, Jacob was given some money and was sent to Paris, to do business. Carl has sometimes been seen as less gifted of the five brothers.

However, he proved himself as a strong financial manager when he was sent to Naples.

In 1804, Nathan established a bank in the city of London. His banking business was very profitable. He became very successful that he convinced his brothers to invest in the banking sector. The brothers went into formal partnership agreement. Solomon founded a bank called M. VON Rothschild und Sohne in Vienna. Jacob's bank in Paris was de Rothschild Freres. Carl established CM de Rohschilds & Figli in Naples. Meanwhile, the eldest son Amschel remained in Frankfurt, assisting the aged Mayer in the banking business.

Before 1843, the Rothschilds became the Lord of Europe. Nathan has increased the 20,000 pounds stake given to him by his father, 2500 times to 50,000,000 pounds in the 17years he had been in England. He became the controller of the bank of England. In November 1818, France went into financial panic because the value of her bonds dropped drastically. The Rothschilds then stepped in and took control of the French money market. Carl's bank CM de Rothschild & Figli bank arranged substantial loans to the Papal States. He saved the Vatican from bankrupting and took over the financial operations of the Catholic Church, worldwide in 1823. Observers were shocked when Pope Gregory XVI gave his hands to Carl, rather than the customary toe to kiss, as was then required for all other visitors to the Pope, including monarchs. In Vienna, Solomon had vast wealth and position. In 1822, the emperor of Austria made the five brothers Barons, which is an elevation to the hereditary Austrian nobility. The banking business prospered at the headquarters of the Rothschild banking dynasty in Frankfurt.

Although, Mayer Amschel Rothschild died on 19th September 1812, but before he died, he laid the foundation of the Rothschild fiscal power base by strategically positioning his five sons in different European financial hubs. It is impossible to estimate the net worth of the Rothschild's family. Their wealth is kept in banks controlled by family members, allowing them to maintain full secrecy about the size of their fortunes. The Rothschild business has moved to many countries, including Luxembourg, Switzerland, USA, Hong Kong, Netherlands, South Africa, Liechtenstein and Cayman Islands.

Lesson

The hen forsakes her chicks after 17 to 23 weeks. The cub becomes independent after 2years. The bond between the adult eagle and the eaglet fades after 23 weeks, and the adult will no longer tolerate pestering from her offspring.

Young reptiles are more unfortunate; their mothers relinquish them immediately their eggs are hatched. Humans also have a time of independence. Like the butterfly that never develops adequately if it gets external help out of its cocoon. A child who misses this stage will never gain absolute independence. Why are you still spoon feeding that child, oh parents?

There is a time to say good-bye to your child.

Before the hen forsakes her chicks, she had already taught them how to use their claws to scratch the earth in search for food and the beak to pick the food. The eagle departs immediately the eaglet becomes a master of the wind. A cub must become a skilful hunter within the two years it spends with the lioness. These animals know that life is hard for the fragile. Therefore, they start preparing their babies for life's challenges immediately they are born.

Regardless of your wealth or position, your child will succeed only when he is introduced to the art of independence at a tender age. Lessons for autonomy starts immediately a child is born. Failure to master this training limits the chance of success. Family money rarely survives the transfer for long and sudden wealth syndrome has been identified as the pivotal cause. The snake lay and hatches an average of 60 eggs, but only 20% make it to their second year because they are untrained for life's challenges.

Inconvenience is the crucible where champions are made. Your child must know that the race to success is not a relay race but a 100meter dash, success is personal. Get him a job or help him start a business, and he will respect his earned reward. Comfort zone is the burial place of champions. Send him out of the security of the home. Allow him to create new income streams. If he is not taught to be responsible, he will be your responsibility forever. Let him make his mistakes and learn his lessons, and in no time he will become a master of responsibilities. Correct and encourage him when he goes wrong and praise him when he is right.

The eagle will never be a common bird because they are raised by uncommon mothers.

History of the Morgan Silver Dollar

[ad_1]

The Morgan silver dollar was minted in an attempt to keep the price of silver stabilized after an enormous silver strike in Colorado caused a sudden crash in the price of silver. This dollar was minted from 1878 through 1904, then stopped because silver suddenly increased in price, and then minted for one more year in 1921.

In addition, it was minted in several locations: Carson City, Denver, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Philadelphia; only Denver and Philadelphia are mint locations today. The value of a Morgan silver dollar depends on its year, the mint that created it, and the quality of its preservation.

A Morgan silver dollar has the head of Lady Liberty on the front and a wing-spread eagle holding arrows and an olive branch on the back; you'll recognize the reverse as being very similar to that of a quarter. This coin is the first of our minted coins to use the slogan E Pluribus Unum. It's a large coin, about the same size as a half-dollar in use today or just a little bigger, and it has a silver fineness of .900, or 90% silver, so silver content by weight is just over 24 grams. The remaining metal is copper.

Morgan silver dollars, unlike many of the coins minted over a hundred years ago, have a top grade of DMPL, or Deep Mirror Proof Like; these coins have extremely heavily frosted images and devices, so that these parts show up matte, while the background is polished silver. Early Morgan silver dollars are more likely to follow this format than later ones, making the later DMPL dollars worth more.

The other grades for this dollar are Proof, Uncirculated, Good, Fair, and Poor. The degree of wear determines what level the coin is at. A sealed, perfect coin that has never been touched is a Proof; a perfect or near-perfect coin that has been used is Uncirculated; a near-perfect coin with a couple of flaws is Good; a coin that has seen some wear is Fair; and a coin that is very worn, with the edges worn smooth, is Poor, the lowest grade.

Of these grades, the Poor Morgan silver dollars are generally worth very little, though there are a few exceptions. Look also for the mint mark, a dash and letter next to the year of minting. Mint marks may be S (San Francisco), P (Philadelphia), O (New Orleans), D (Denver) and CC (Carson City). Of these, the Carson City coins tend to be worth the most.

There are also several short runs that are worth significantly more due to their rareness: 1889-CC, 1893-S, and1895 Proof are the most valuable by far. The last of these in theory only had 880 coins released into circulation, and probably fewer exist today; its value is calculated to be about $66,000. The Proof coin should not have a mintmark; attempts to forge it have been made by filing away the proofmark on another Morgan dollar released that year, but a coin expert should be able to spot this immediately.

For a coin collector, a Morgan silver dollar is a must-have: its history, its beauty, and its often low cost all make this an attractive coin for starting, or adding to, your collection.

Why Gold is a Good Investment?

[ad_1]

Many clichés exist about gold. We sometimes say that some people in our lives and at work are worth their weight in gold. Then, a student is always 'looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow'. 'Silence is golden'. All these clichés denote that gold is indeed something valuable and precious; something worth striving for. People buy it as jewellery and as an investment.

Gold jewellery looks pretty and moves you up many social ladder steps. Bullions, on the other hand, are another story. Some people use gold bullions to make money. They buy bullions when gold prices are low and sell at a profit whenever the prices increase. For them it is business.

These people always keep a good lookout for cheap and good deals to buy gold. They are very vigilant about changing gold prices. Also, they have access to people who would buy their gold, when they want to sell it. Then there are those people who invest in gold to build their safety nests. For them, it is a reliable source, which they can dig out from, whenever times are rough.

Why gold? When you invest in a business or in stocks, it is actually a gamble. If the business flourishes, you are the happy party. If however, the business does not pan out the way it was supposed to, there is no way you can recover your money. Therefore, gold is a safer bet. Although it would not generate an income like a successful business would, you would be sure to have your capital amount with you.

Gold is also a safe investment because it is not necessary that its price to fall with the dash in value of the dollar. In fact, as much the dollar loses its value, more expensive the gold becomes. The price of gold also increases directly with inflation. Therefore when people worry over their shrinking grocery lists, and expanding grocery bills, gold owners sell their gold at a neat profit -enjoying the benefits. This means that gold owners sell at a much higher price than the price they paid for it.

Immigration applicants may also find owning gold useful. Immigrating to many countries require you to show your assets. If you have the required amount of money in your banks for a particular period, or you have assets worth the same amount of money, you are eligible to apply for immigration.

Investing in gold is also a good way of improving your portfolio. If you own gold, and you show it on your application for a loan, chances are that the bank would give you the loan. This is because whenever you want to get a loan, you have to show collateral.

Now gold is strong collateral. The bank views it as a valuable movable asset. Hey presto, the loan is yours! I'd say, bullion in safe is better than two briefcases of dollars any day!

What Are the Advantages of Buying PCGS Graded Coins?

[ad_1]

As a coin collector or an investor of coins, you no doubt have asked yourself the question of why you should buy professionally graded coins. These coins are also known as slabbed or certified vs. an uncertified coin which is known as "raw". The term "slabbed" came about because certified coins are in a plastic slab.

A topic such as this is quite controversial as each side of the coin has its staunch proponents. In this article though, we will concentrate on the advantages of graded coins, specifically PCGS graded coins. As you may know, there are several other grading services out there but PCGS has been ranked the most consistent in grading and ability.

PCGS, a subsidiary of Collectors Universe, started grading coins for the public in 1986 and since then PCGS has graded millions and millions of coins. So why buy PCGS coins? Let's answer that question now.

The first reason, and this applies to all slabbed coins, is that a slabbed graded coin is now protected from further damage. Imagine taking out your best coin, a 1942-S Walking Liberty in what you believe to be MS-67 condition. In this condition, PCGS gives an estimated value of $25,000.00. It is an absolutely beautiful coin. To prepare for this moment, you put on your white coin gloves so as to not pass body oils to the coin. As you pick it up to examine it the telephone rings, or your two year old snuck up behind you and nearly trips you. The coin goes flying out of your hands and is rolling across your floor right towards the floor heat vent. You make a mad dash and dive to save the coin, but it is too late. The coin rolls over the lip of the heat vent and slips between the cracks into your house heating duct. You lift the vent out of place and reach in for your coin. Fortunately it did not go around the bend and begin the spiral down to the furnace. It may as well have. Your once $25,000 coin now has several scrapes, scuffs, and a ding smack dab above "In God We Trust" due to the screw it landed on in the vent. This same coin in MS-65 condition is worth $700. Even worse, in MS-64 it is worth $110. While the coin still has its original mint luster, the physical damage is there. Do you think this is an extreme example? Maybe, but I guarantee you that many a coin has been accidentally dropped by dealers and collectors reducing its grade by a couple notches and its value by countless thousands of dollars. Personally, and sadly, it has happened to me. I once dropped what I thought would be a MS-66 Red 1909 VDB Lincoln cent. Upon close examination after I dropped it, I noticed a few scrapes and scuffs not previously their. Yes, they were minor and barely visible, but I had it graded anyway, and it came back as MS-65. While my example was not with a $25,000 coin, it happens. I now clear a special area for handling GEM coins so this never happens again. A certified coin comes in a hard plastic container that not only protects it from silly mistakes but also it is sealed to further protect it from the elements. Yes, the natural elements (air pollution) can damage coins over long periods of time. Most grading companies will encase the graded coin in an air-tight container to ensure preservation.

The second reason to buy a PCGS slabbed coin is that any coin graded a specific grade will retain that grade. A MS-65 coin will always be a MS-65 coin, unless of course you submit it for re-grading. With PCGS coins though, you can be fairly certain in the consistency of graded coins. With other grading services, inconsistencies bring uncertainty into an assigned grade.

The third reason to buy PCGS graded coins is that when it comes time to sell, PCGS graded coins will command a premium over other slabbed coins. As an example, I checked recent sales of the very common 1921 P Morgan dollar in MS65 condition. Those certified from PCGS were commanding prices upwards of 50% over similarly graded coin from other grading services. While this is an extreme case, it simply points out the faith by collectors in PCGS coins. Naturally, it will cost you more to buy PCGS coins than other certified coins.

The fourth reason to purchase PCGS certified coins is a coin graded by PCGS gives it instant credibility. Grading services first came about so that coins could be bought and sold without the buyer having to see it first. This was in the age before digital cameras and the internet. While there was a grading system in place in the early 80's, grading was very arbitrary. A coin graded F-12 by one person would grade G-4 by another. By introducing an outside, disinterested party into the equation, both sides of a transaction could agree that the grade was correct. The idea was to create a system whereby dealers could trade/buy/sell coins without seeing them first. The idea was a hit. Today PCGS graded coins offer instant credibility. Whether you are buying or selling though, always buy the coin and not the grade. I have regrettably bought a few truly ugly high grade PCGS coins. While they were in decent shape, some had very unattractive toning and had I seen the coin first, I would not have bought it. Even though a coin carries a certain grade, you still need to ask details about certified coins and look at them first.

With the introduction of the State Quarter program several years ago, coin collecting has seen a surge in the number of collectors. Thousands and thousand of new collectors have entered the hobby and with that there will be a higher demand for certain coins. While most of us began our hobby for the pure enjoyment of collecting, we still like to know that our investment is somewhat safe. I believe, and this is my opinion only, that with more and more collectors entering the hobby, certain high-end certified coins will continue to rise in value due to demand. As those collectors who started on State Quarters mature in their collecting endeavors, they will no doubt begin to collect older coins such as Walking Liberty halves and Morgan Dollars. Most likely this will be coins that have been certified. This will no doubt raise the value of certified coins. But this is only my guess.

Coin Collecting can be a wonderful hobby and as you refine your collecting interests, PCGS graded coins can make a wonderful addition to your collection.

As always,

Happy Collecting!

Here's Why the Cryptocurrency Dash Puts Bitcoin to Shame

[ad_1]

Cryptocurrencies are all the rage right now.

Everywhere, you see headlines with impressive thousand percent gains for "coins" like bitcoin. But what gives them value? When have you ever used bitcoin?

The truth is that it's not practical right now, primarily due to the amount of time it takes to complete a transaction. But there are other coins out there that are emerging as viable candidates to succeed bitcoin as the No. 1 cryptocurrency.

There's a lot to understand about the intricacies of cryptocurrencies, but this article is more about finding an investment opportunity than explaining the science behind them.

A Bubble in Bitcoin?

One thing that's important to know is the concept of "mining." This is the very basis of cryptocurrencies. That's how new bitcoins are made.

In simple terms, the "miner," through special software, solves a complex math problem and is rewarded with new bitcoins as a result. Then, the transaction is stored in the blockchain, and those new bitcoins are officially in circulation.

As more bitcoins are in circulation, mining them becomes more complicated and time-consuming, and less profitable. So even though about 80% of possible bitcoins are in circulation right now, the last one won't be mined until 2140.

As most people know by now, bitcoin has seen a gigantic rally this year. In fact, it's up about 1,200% over the past year, causing a lot of people to think it's in a bubble.

The total value of bitcoins in circulation is now over $150 billion. If bitcoin was a company, it would be in the top 50 largest in the United States.

I personally believe that the only reason bitcoin is so much more valuable than any other cryptocurrency is because it was the one that first broke through to the mainstream. That's still important, though. It, at the very least, gives other coin developers something to improve on.

The good thing is that even if you think you've missed the boat with bitcoin, there are plenty of other cryptocurrencies out there. Of course, some are scams, but others have real potential.

One of the ones that I believe has real, practical use is called Dash.

Dash: Digital Cash

First, Dash is ahead of the game in terms of convenience. Right now, bitcoin transactions take about 10 minutes to an hour on average. Dash is setting out to be the primary cryptocurrency that can be transferred instantly (in less than one second) between parties, making it much more practical when it comes to buying things online or at a store.

One of the most appealing features of Dash is that 10% of the newly mined coins are given to the Dash DAO (decentralized autonomous organization). Simply put, the DAO is the treasury of Dash. At the current price of more than $600 per coin, that's $4 million per month that it can use.

It's important to know that no other coin has this kind of continuous funding. With this money, the Dash DAO can develop and market the currency.

Also, anyone can submit an idea for a project to enhance the value of Dash. Then, the project is voted on by thousands of Dash developers. An example would be partnering with stores to make Dash a viable means of transaction for their goods.

Of course, these developers make money from Dash, so anything that benefits and promotes the currency will be enticing.

This creates a circular effect, where the currency appreciates in price because it's better funded and marketed, then the DAO makes more money, and it's able to market Dash even more.

A Breakthrough for Dash

So far, Dash can be used at over 300 physical stores and over 100 websites to purchase goods or services. But the breakthrough for it could come from the marijuana industry.

Right now, banks are not allowed to have anything to do with marijuana transactions; everything has to be done in cash. Vendors can't even put money from their sales in a bank.

Not only does this bring the risk of being robbed, but these companies have to pay for cash storage and transportation. That adds up quickly.

Being able to use Dash would be huge for these vendors. It would also mean great things for the price of Dash.

The good news is that it has already started making progress. In April, Dash partnered with a digital payment system called Alt Thirty Six, which has partnerships with some of the leading dispensary business management software companies in the country.

These software companies track transactions for hundreds of dispensaries and delivery services. That means that Dash users already have hundreds of ways to use the currency.

Since Dash officially became a payment method on Alt Thirty Six on October 11, its price has gone up 118%. That's only in a month and a half.

Just the Beginning

With a market cap of only $4.8 billion compared to bitcoin's $156 billion, I believe Dash still has plenty of room to climb going forward.

The marijuana industry is just the start for Dash, but it's a great one. In 2016, legal sales were about $7 billion. Another estimated $46 billion was sold on the black market.

And as more stores open and marijuana becomes legal in more states, that legal number is expected to be $23 billion by 2021 and $50 billion by 2026.

Again, this is just the beginning for Dash. Its unique immediate transaction feature makes it a viable alternative to cash, giving it an edge over other cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.
